Our Introduction to this Breed

In 2002 we became interested in the Lagotto as a breed, finding it a smaller, and as you can see, most attractive breed of Gundog. In July 2002, we attended the World Dog Show in Amsterdam. There were many breeders of Lagotti at the World Dog Show and we were able to speak to them about the breed and also to admire the variety of colours. Upon our return to Australia we decided that we would definitely like to add the Lagotti to Greydove.

We purchased a puppy, Tia, bred by Jocelyn Cansdell and Margaret Giles of Tartufo Kennels. We campaigned this puppy to her title, Australian Champion Tartufo Giovanna. Late in 2004, we also purchased Australian Champion Tartufo Aida to further our breeding program.

Greydove's first Lagotti litter was born in 2004. In 2006 our first imported stud dog arrived, the now GRAND CH Kan Trace at Greydove (Imp Croatia) who in turn became the first Lagotto in Australia to win an All Breeds Best in Show Award.  In November 2007 our first bitch also imported from Croatia, Kan Trace Greydove Gabriella arrived.

In August 2008 we imported semen from a lovely Italian dog Multi Ch Lucignolo Del Pesco, hip score of A, the first semen to arrive in Australia from a Lagotto.

We are committed to breeding healthy and happy companion Lagotti, we are not primarily interested in exporting our dogs nor selling breeding stock and will only do either on an exceptional basis.

This is a rare breed and careful consideration should be given when breeding.
